Hey kids, guess what time it is! It’s job creation time! Which means it’s time to bring back that sexy economic data source, the Bikini Graph! That sound you hear is the GOP demanding President Obama’s impeachment for allowing this to happen on his watch. JobsGhazi!!!!
As always, red columns point to monthly job totals under the Bush administration, while blue columns point to job totals under the Obama administration. Me oh my, look at all that blue! And check out that unemployment rate graph: Puh-lunge!
Via Steve Benen at The Maddow Blog, here’s the latest on the new report from Bureau of Labor Statistics, including how the U.S. economy added 271,000 jobs in October. The overall unemployment rate ticked down to 5% which is the lowest it’s been since February 2008.
Benen (emphasis mine):
This, coupled with improvement in wages, makes today’s jobs report the best of 2015.
Overall, the U.S. has added 2.8 million jobs over the last 12 months – 2.7 million in the private sector alone – which is quite good, and 2.06 million jobs this calendar year. October was the 61st consecutive month of positive job growth – the best stretch since 1939 – and the 68th consecutive month in which we’ve seen private-sector job growth, which is the longest on record.
“Where are the jobs?” the GOP asks. Why, right here, you annoying obstructionists, in spite of your efforts to stifle Democratic jobs bills galore. Yes, try as they may, the when Republicans try to obstruct progress, they can’t. That’s right, they even fail at trying to create failure.
If this keeps up, it could help Dems in the 2016 elections, because all those snarling Republicans could find it increasingly difficult to use the economy against President Obama specifically, and Democrats in general.
