Purple Rain

The world is mourning in purple today, as we remember the brilliant, multi-talented rock star Prince.  The story has been repeated many times since the news broke yesterday, and I’ll add to it.

“When Eric Clapton was asked how it felt to be the world’s best guitarist he replied: ‘I don’t know. Ask Prince.’ ”

Need proof? Watch this star-studded performance. They’re all the best in the world. Then Prince steps on stage at around the 3:30 mark and owns it…

Howie Klein shared a great Prince story this morning at Down with Tyranny. I know I’ll set aside a few hours this weekend to watch Purple Rain.

Today on the show, I was joined by Ari Rabin-Havt, host of The Agenda on Sirius XM Progress 127, who has a new book out: Lies, Incorporated: The World of Post-Truth Politics.

I have to give Ari a lot of credit. He came on my show and put up with my anger and repeated condemnation of his former boss, David Brock, even though that was not the subject of his book. In my defense, as I said to Ari on the air, if you write a book about LIES and POLITICS, you cannot omit all the harm done by David Brock both when he was attacking Bill Clinton and smearing Anita Hill and today as he is employing the same ugly tactics for Hillary Clinton against Bernie Sanders.

This is a press release Brock’s organization released about a new directive to fight the “Bernie Bros” (***note: Bernie Bros don’t exist – they were fabricated by Trump supporters and Brock himself) on social media, while accusing the Sanders camp of resorting to these smear tactics.

Ari took all the  crap I dished out, and explained that the book is about lies – but not those kinds of lies. Either way, I guess there are more than enough lies at every level of the political spectrum to go around. He was a really good sport, and I appreciate it.

Since Robert Platshorn wasn’t available on 4/20 to join us, I invited him to help us end the week today because who doesn’t want a bit of week to help bring in the weekend? Robert Platshorn aka Bobby Tuna served over 30 years of a 60-year sentence for smuggling pot into Florida back in the 70’s — the government lied about the amount of cannabis he brought in, and wanted to make an example out of him.

When he was released in 2008, he began touring senior communities down here with The Silver Tour, educating senior citizens about the benefits of Medical Marijuana. We have Amendment 2 back on the ballot in November… make Florida green!

Today is also Earth Day, and the world is celebrating by signing the Paris Climate deal

I had planned on an Earth Day preshow music set, which got pre-empted by Prince… So, here’s the earth day music…

Now get out there and save the planet… and enjoy some Prince music this weekend too.
