womens history month

All the progress women have made in this country came in despite of the men around them. Today, we look at some women of accomplishment with She’s History’s Amy Simon as we celebrate Women’s History Month.

We also look at the moronic men who’ve kept not only women, but the whole nation, down. Most notably, some of the justices sitting on the bench of the highest court in the land – Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas.

Those three will likely vote in favor of the plaintiffs in the challenge they heard yesterday to the Affordable Care Act, thus taking away access to affordable health insurance (and therefore removing access to healthcare for millions of newly-insured Americans).

Pretty moronic.

CAP/Think Progress‘ Ian Millhiser joined me this morning (he’s one of the smarter of the male species) to talk about what went down in the Supreme Court yesterday, background on the case, and he even gave his prediction of how he thinks the case will be decided. But with this court, you never know…

Speaking of the Supreme Court, Ian Millhiser’s brand new book is about that institution. Injustices: The Supreme Court’s History of Comforting the Comfortable and Afflicting the Afflicted sounds like a fascinating read.

More moronic men and their asshole actions were on display for all to see yesterday, as the Justice Department released its report detailing rampant racism in Ferguson, MO (and then announcing that no civil rights charges will be filed against former cop Darren Wilson for killing unarmed teenager Michael Brown).

There’s no live show tomorrow as I’ll be undergoing the unpleasant but necessary procedure known as a colonoscopy. More pleasant for you is the fact that our stream will run a shitload (sorry) of Flashback Friday music sessions back to back, all day long. The week’s shows will repeat all weekend. And I’ll be back Monday, radio or not!
